I’ve lost 44 pounds, my A1C has dropped, and I’m no longer pre-diabetic.

Now, I feel amazing. I actually smile when I look in the mirror, and for the first time in years, I feel like I’ve been drinking from the fountain of youth.
When I began, I was going to Club Pilates five times a week. Pilates is fantastic for core strength, balance, and flexibility, but I knew I needed to add more activity to reach my goals.
On July 1, I made a commitment—to myself and to a Facebook group of women who love walking. My goal was to walk every day in July and hit 100 miles by the end of the month. That meant walking an average of 3.25 miles per day. By July 31, I had not only met but exceeded my goal.
I decided to keep going. August turned into September, then October, November, and December. Now, I walk every single day. It has become my “me” time—a chance to unplug and listen to my favorite energy playlist, podcast, or audiobook.

Living in the Midwest means cold winters, and I wasn’t sure I could stick to walking outside in the chilly weather. But my sister gave me the best advice: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.” She was right! Bundling up and heading out in the crisp air has been invigorating, and I haven’t let the cold stop me.
Exercise can be tough to prioritize. There’s always something else to do, and the day can slip away if we’re not careful. Working from home gives me flexibility, but I make sure to schedule my walks into my day like any other important meeting. If something comes up, I stay committed to my walk and plan around it.
The key is finding something you enjoy. For me, it’s walking and Pilates. These activities bring me joy, and that’s why I’ve been able to stick with them.
To anyone on their own path, I hope you find an activity that makes you happy and a routine that works for you. Because when you enjoy the process, transformation becomes not just possible but inevitable.
Here’s to continuing the journey, one step at a time.
Thank you, Emerge, for changing my life by making these medications accessible and affordable.
